  12. An update... and the first response to my own question.  I made another 
  13. cable, which seems to fit and svereal keys *still* don't work.  Again, 
  14. it's every other key on the second row (the q,e,t,u,o,@ and ^) along with 
  15. the F5 key.  All else seems to work.

  17. I begin to suspect the keyboard.

  19. Luckily, it seems to have shift/run-stop loading, which lets me check out 
  20. some other aspects.  Sound is awful-to-nonexistant; it does some strange 
  21. color-shifting and loses lines when listing directories.  My old cracked 
  22. Maniac Mansion works, while my cracked WHere in Tine is Carmen, etc. 
  23. crashes.  GEOS works, but my mouse won't.

  25. Mostly, I'd like to get the keys all working.  Sounds like it may be just 
  26. one wire (or trace?? - I'm so ignorant).
